Users Manual WAWI Database Manager Version 1.2. Desert Research Institute (2004).

This users manual describes and instructs users in the use of a database designed by the Desert Research Institute to store data collected through the West Africa Water Initiative projects in Ghana, Niger and Mali. Since the early 1990s, the project has generated a large amount of data, including basic site information, site exploration (geophysical and site features), well construction, well characteristics, and water quality, and is expected to generate more data in the future. DRI proposed this database to better maintain and organize information as the project operates and expands. The following documentation is designed to be an introduction to database operation and structure, providing step-by-step instructions of database use as designed for the WAWI project. The overall database structure maintains different forms of data in separate categories. All the basic functions of information management are contained in five categories: Community/Geographic Information, Exploration Information, Well Construction/Water Quality, List Maintenance Information, Queries and Reports, Process Exports, and Administrative Forms. Copies of the database are available from the Desert Research Institute. It is currently populated with water quality analysis from Ghana, Mali and Niger; well logs, geophysical data, some maps and water point locations.
